Good writers strive to do four things: Educate, Entertain, Engage and Enrich. That’s equally important when blogging. Most blog readers are looking to either learn something, solve a problem or be entertained. Keep your content focused on your area of expertise, make it relevant and useful and you’re likely to become a ‘go to’, often-cited source.

Educate … Teach, explain or spell out how to do something. Keep it simple and keep it clear.

Entertain … Entertaining is an art. Humor, video, a good story: It can all work … or not. Short and sweet usually works best. Always leave them wanting more.

Engage … Ask questions, include links, encourage comments. Blogging, like social media in general, should be a two-way conversation.

Enrich … Add to the conversation by offering something that isn’t easily found elsewhere. Put a new spin on a popular topic, or go deeper than others have.

When we teach (not preach) … tell (not sell) … and share useful information, readership soars. Remember, it’s all about them (your audience), not you. Create something that your readers will value and they will value your expertise by association. … Lori Martinek, Branding Expert & Author, https://edcgrow.com
